In Periyar, you will take a boat ride over beautiful & serene Lake Periyar and this will give some of the finest wildlife experiences of India as you will see wild elephant by lake side as well as some other wild animals like wild boar and variety of birds.
Eravikulam National Park is an ideal place to spot Nilgiri Thar.
Eravikulam is located near Munnar – the highest place of Kerala and picturesque hill station. Both Periyar and Eravikulam National Parks of India are located in Nilgiri hills of Western Ghats Mountain range. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is quite famous for Birding Tours in India, therefore it is an Indian Wildlife tour with combination of birding, tiger, elephant and relaxation.
Day 1 – Cochin-Arrival
Arrive at Kochi and transfer to the hotel. Cochin is the commercial hub and one of the gateways of Kerala. Kochi is one of the finest harbors in India. Post lunch visit Fort Kochi which will include Dutch Palace – built in 1555 AD by the Portuguese and presented to the local rulers of Kochi. Here, 17th century murals are portrayed which has the pictures from Hindu Epic Ramayana.
Visit St. Francis Cathedral, originally constructed in 1510 AD by again the Portuguese. It is believed to be the initial church in India built by the Europeans. Originally Vasco Da Gama was buried at this place. Take a tour of Chinese fishing Net – it is even looked from the entry of Cochin harbour. The procedures to catch the fishes were informed by Chinese by the trade contacts.
Visit the Jewish Synagogue –constructed in 1568 AD; this Synagogue contains Old Testament Grand Scrolls and various copper plates. Enjoy the walking tour through the spice markets. Later, go to a theatre to witness the live performance of Kerala’s traditional Kathakali Dance.
Day 2 – Cochin-Munnar
In the morning drive towards Kerala’s highest hill station Munnar (1524 meters) on the way viewing the spice & tea plantations. Munnar is known for its bracing & wonderful climate which displays the charm of an ancient world. The environment of Munnar is purified by the plantations of tea, cardamom and other spices. In Munnar, you will witness many charming mountains, marvelous lakes, various streams and beautiful views of the valleys and clouds touching them.
Day 3 – Munnar- Eravikulam National Park-Munnar
Today take an excursion to Eravikulam National Park to see the Nilgiri Thar. In the evening, you will return back to Munnar to stay overnight.
Day 4 – Munnar-Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary
After having breakfast depart Munnar for Thekkady (Periyar National Park) by a charming route. Arrive in Periyar and check in to your hotel. Late, enjoy a boat ride on Periyar Lake which will give you an opportunity to view the wildlife.
Day 5 – Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary
Today, take one more boat ride on Lake Periyar to see some more wild animals if lucky you might see the herds of wild elephants. During the day, join a spice plantation tour with our guide.
Day 6 – Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary-Kumarakom
Today depart for Kumarakom – the exotic destination of Kerala known for its backwaters. On arrival in Kumarakom, check in to your hotel. Rest of the time is free at leisure.
Day 7 – Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary
In the morning enjoy the backwater cruise. Later in the afternoon, take an excursion to Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary.
Day 8 – Kumarakom-Kochi-Departure
Today, transfer to Cochin international airport to embark the flight back to the home country. The tour ends.
