Lahaul, Spiti and Ladakh tour is not an India Wildlife Travel but an Indian Adventure tour. You can call it Trans Himalayan Jeep Safari Tour as it passed through Trans Himalayan Valleys of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh region of Jammu & Kashmir state.
Lahaul & Spiti is a unique district of Himachal Pradesh and full of adventure and surprises. The main religion of Lahaul, Spiti and Ladakh is Buddhism; hence we find here beautiful Buddhist monasteries, colorful tribes, few ancient Hindu temples and high altitude Himalayan wildlife. Some of the finest Himalayas Valleys will be seen here such as Sarhan Valley, Karchham and Baspa valley etc.
In these valleys and all of Lahaul, Spiti & Ladakh region, the nature is at its best, which gives ample opportunity to view various Himalayan birds and wild animals. It is an Indian nature tour full of rivers and lakes like Spiti River, Bhaga River, Surajtal Lake and various peak of the mountains. You will drive through few of the highest motor able passes of the world like Kunzumla pass and Tanglangla Pass etc.
Day 1 – Delhi-Arrival
Arrive at Delhi international airport, you will be assisted by our representative and transferred to the hotel.
Day 2 – Delhi-Chandigarh
After breakfast, transfer to Chandigarh – one of few planned cities in India. Arrive at Chandigarh and check in to the hotel. In Chandigarh, visit Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Leisure Valley, Sukhna Lake and Government Museum & Art Gallery.
Day 3 – Chandigarh-Shimla
Today, drive to Shimla – the summer capital of India during British Raj. Arrive in Shimla and check in. Later, visit Shimla including the Mall Road, Christ Church, the Ridge, Shimla State Museum and Kufri.
Day 4 – Shimla-Sarahan
After having breakfast, transfer to Sarahan valley via Narkanda and Rampur. In Sarahan, take the spectacular view Srikhan Mahadev Peak. Later, take a tour of Bhimkali temple to view the reflection of both Buddhist and Hindu architecture. Stay overnight in Sarahan.
Day 5 – Sarahan-Sangla
Today, drive further to Sangla on the way stop to take a brief visit of Karchham & Baspa valley both are very prosperous in culture and quite picturesque. The peaks of mountains here are amazing and have the superb sloping homes.
Day 6 – Sangla-Kalpa
Today leave for Kalpa. Arrive in Kalpa and enjoy the spectacular view of Raldang Kailash Massif over looking Sutlej River.
Day 7 – Kalpa-Yangthang-Sumdo-Tabo
In the morning, drive to Tabo through Yangthang and Sumdo. On arrival in Tabo, check in to the tent. Tabo is situated on the banks of magnificent Spiti River. It is very famous for the Buddhist monastery as this monastery has the great collection including distinguishing scriptures, the art pieces, stucco and beautiful wall paintings.
Day 8 – Tabo-Dankar-Kaza
Today leave Tabo towards Kaza en-route visit Dankar Monastery. Kaza is strategically located on the banks of impressive Spiti River and is widely recognized for the Ki Monastery – the biggest monastery in Spiti Valley having the huge collection of murals and books. Apart from Ki Gompa visit Kibber Monastery near Kaza.
Day 9 – Kaza-Kunzumla-Keylong
After breakfast, proceed to Keylong passing through Kunzumla pass – the highest pass on Spiti-Lahaul highway. Arrive to Keylong via Khokhsar. On arrival, visit Keylong town.
Day 10 – Keylong-Darcha-Sarchu
Transfer to Sarchu (4200 Meters) through Darcha. The journey from Keylong to Sarchu is breathtaking as the path goes through the extensive fields and wide Bhaga River. Darcha is the starting points for many famous treks going towards Baralachla Pass. Take a tour of Surajtal Lake, to enjoy the wonderful opportunity for the photography. Arrive in Sarchu and stay in the high altitude tents.
Day 11 – Sarchu-Leh
Have breakfast and drive to Leh (the headquarters of Ladakh region). Travel through Lachungla Pass located in the middle of huge mountains. Today, enjoy the lunch in Pang. Here view the tiny localities in plain areas of Morea which are called Marmots. Drive over the 02nd highest motor able pass in the world Tanglangla Pass (5350 meters). Reach to Leh by the evening.
Day 12 – Leh-Spituk-Phyang-Shanker-Leh
Today, visit 500 years old Spituk Gompa, Phyang Monastery and Shanker Monastery. In the evening, arrive back to Leh to stay in the hotel.
Day 13 – Leh-Shey-Thiksey-Hemis-Leh
In the morning visit Shey Palace, located 15 KMS from Leh. Shey Gompa was the summer palace for the rulers of Ladakh. Close to Shey Palace, see various other Stupas and Gompas. Deldan Namgyal built Shey Palace in the beginning of 17th century AD. Dresthang Gompa is finest attraction of Shey here visit 12 meters long statue of Shakyamuni Buddha. Later, take a tour of Thiksey Monastery which belongs to Gelukspa faith and is arguably an attractive Gompas of Ladakh. Also visit Hemis Monastery – 45 KMS away from Leh in Southern side. Hemis is among the popular and biggest monasteries in Ladakh. During the Hemis festival, it becomes quite colorful representing the prosperous culture of Ladakhi. Hemis is attached with Drukpa faith and was made in 17th century.
Day 14 – Leh-Stok-Tsemo-Leh
After breakfast, visit Stok Museum & Palace. On the way to Stok, stop in Choglamsar to see the Tibetan Refugee Camps. In the afternoon, visit the palace of King and also Tsemo Gompa to have an eye-catching view of Leh town.
Day 15 – Leh-Delhi
At appropriate time, transfer to the airport to catch the flight for Delhi. Arrive in Delhi and transfer to the hotel.
Day 16 – Delhi-Departure
In time, drive to the airport to embark the flight back home. The tour ends.
