Gahirmatha Wildlife Sanctuary or Gahirmatha Turtle Sanctuary is a very unique place in Indian Wildlife Travel as it is a largest home of breeding for sea turtles in India.
This special Indian Wildlife Sanctuary is a part of Odisha state and a hidden treasure for Odisha Wildlife Tours as well as for India Wildlife Tours. It is also known as Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary and is a paradise to spot Olive Ridley sea turtles.
There is a long beach in the wildlife sanctuary making it one of the most beautiful wildlife sanctuaries in India. Gahirmatha Turtle Sanctuary is world famous for Olive Ridley Sea Turtles and they come to this Indian Wildlife Sanctuary from the very far of Pacific Ocean to deliver the eggs and also to mate. Making it a unique Indian Wildlife Tour, the sanctuary also has other wild animals such as Bear, Wild Boar, Leopard, Barking deer, Jungle Fowl, Sambhar, Crocodile, Hyena, Four-horned antelope, Chinkara, Wild Dog, Blue Bull and Sloth Bear etc.
Day 1 – Bhadrak-Chandbali-Dangamal
Today, drive towards Chandbali through Bhadrak. Arrive at Chandbali and take the motorboat cruise for Dangamal Island. Arrive at Dangamal and check in to the forest guest house.
Day 2 – Dangamal-Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary
After having breakfast at Dangamal proceed further to Bird Island. Here observe different varieties thousands of Indian and migratory birds. Take the cruise till Bhitarkanika Island. Arrive at Bhitarkanika and check in to the jungle lodge.
Day 3 – Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary-Ekkakula Island-Gahirmatha
Today, take again the motorboat towards Ekkakula Island located in the Bay of Bengal. It is an unknown and an un-spoilt island having a magnificent sunset view. Here track the wild boars, jackals and hyenas.
Sometimes you may also spot dolphins in the sea. Later, visit the Olive Ridley Turtle Nesting Site located on the beach in Gahirmatha. After visit, drive to Bhubaneshwar. The tour ends.
