Taj Mahal with Thar Desert is a wildlife cum adventure cum cultural cum heritage tour as it has all of the said aspects.
Thar Desert is known for its unique topography and lies in the western part of Rajasthan. It is a home of rich wildlife, culture, art, history and architecture of Rajasthan.
The trip includes a visit to Tal Chhapar Black Back Sanctuary famous for endangered Black Backs as well as some migratory birds in winter months. While driving through Thar Desert, you will see many desert birds and wildlife. You will even get a chance to ride Camel – the ship of Desert and also a camel-breeding farm in Bikaner.
A bird watcher will be thrilled to see thousands of cranes at Kheechan Bird Sanctuary. Apart from wildlife, Taj Mahal and Thar Desert Safari is full of cultural and historical aspects as Rajasthan is a home of larger than life forts, palaces, temples and monuments. The people of Rajasthan are very colorful and hospitable and are preserving the culture of the state for centuries.
Day 1 – Delhi-Arrival
Arrive at Delhi international airport, you will be assisted by our representative and transferred to the hotel. Stay overnight in the hotel.
Day 2 – Delhi
After breakfast, start a daylong tour of Old & New Delhi. Today visit historical Qutab Minar, which was the tallest tower in India once upon a time, Humanyun’s Tomb – this was constructed by Begum Hamida for his Emperor husband from Mughal dynasty Humanyun. It is considered as a forerunners of world famous Taj Mahal. Also take a tour of India Gate, the house of President and Parliament House. If time permits visit Red Fort – listed as UNESCO world heritage site and is an example of great Mughal architecture, Jama Masjid – one of the biggest mosques in Asia, historical Chandni Chowk market and Raj Ghat – the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi – the Father of Nation.
Day 3 – Delhi-Mandawa
Have breakfast and proceed to Mandawa located in Shekhawati region. Arrive in Mandawa and check in to the hotel. After having lunch, visit the traditional Havelis of Mandawa known for their frescos. Shekhawati region is famous as largest open art gallery of the world. In the paintings, see the life style of locals & also the religion represented in the wall paintings.
Day 4 – Mandawa-Tal Chhapar Blackbuck Sanctuary-Bikaner
After breakfast, drive towards Camel City of Bikaner en-route stop at Tal Chhapar Blackbuck Sanctuary. In Tal Chhapar, spot various migratory birds coming in the winter months from different regions of the world. Also see the national bird of India peacock and some desert animals along with birds. Tal Chhapar is an ideal destination of Rajasthan to experience the real behavior of Blackbucks. Arrive in Bikaner and check in to the hotel.
Day 5 – Bikaner
Today, take a sightseeing tour of well preserved Junagarh Fort and in-house museum. Later, take an excursion to the Camel Breeding Farm – this kind of only place in India. Also visit Karni Mata temple famous as Rat temple in Deshnok. In the evening, spend the time at Bhandasar Jain temple dedicated to 05th Jain Tirthankara Sumatinathji.
Day 6 – Bikaner-Jaisalmer
After breakfast, drive towards Golden city of Jaisalmer. Arrive at Jaisalmer and transfer to the hotel.
Day 7 – Jaisalmer
After breakfast, take a tour of still populated Golden Fort and the beautiful Jain temples located inside the fort. Also visit the Havelis of Jaisalmer to see the incredible stone work as Patwon Ki Haveli, Nathmalji Ki Haveli and Salim Singhji Ki Haveli. In the evening, visit Sam Sand Dunes to enjoy the camel safari.
Day 8 – Jaisalmer-Kheechan-Osiyan-Jodhpur
In the morning, drive to the Blue city of Jodhpur. En-route, stop at Kheechan Bird Sanctuary to stop thousands of domestic and migratory birds amidst the Thar desert and also visit Osiyan – a very ancient Jain trading township known for its spectacular carved Hindu and Jain temples. Finally reach to Jodhpur and check in to the hotel.
Day 9 – Jodhpur-Ranakpur-Udaipur
After breakfast, take a tour of one of the most imposing forts in India, Mehrangarh Fort and the royal cenotaphs located at Jaswant Thada. Later, drive to Udaipur visiting en-route spectacular Ranakpur Jain temples. On arrival at Udaipur, transfer to the hotel.
Day 10 – Udaipur
In the morning after breakfast start a city tour including City Palace & the museum, Saheliyon Ki Bari – a beautiful garden of the maidens, Bhartiya Lok Kala Museum and historical Jagdish temple. In the evening enjoy the boat ride on spectacular Lake Pichhola.
Day 11 – Udaipur-Chittaurgarh
Today, transfer to Chittaurgarh seeing the untouched tribes on the way. Arrive at Chittaur and visit the unconquerable pride of Chittaur – the fort, Victory Tower, (Vijay Stambh), the tower of fame (Kirti Stambh) and Padmini’s Palace. Stay in a village near Chittaurgarh.
Day 12 – Chittaurgarh-Menal-Bundi
Drive to historical town Bundi stopping on the way at Menal known as Khajuraho of Rajasthan to visit the ancient temples. In Bundi visit Taragarh Palace constructed in 14th century. Bundi Palace has few incredible murals which reflect the marvelous history of India. Also visit Sukh Mahal (the palace of pleasure), Baoris, (the step wells) and the magnificent Chaurasi Khambon Ki Chhatri (84 pillar’s cenotaphs).
Day 13 – Bundi-Jaipur
Today, after breakfast transfer Jaipur known as Pink City. Jaipur is among one of few well planned cities of India. Arrive at Jaipur and check in to the hotel. Late afternoon is free to explore the traditional and colorful markets of Jaipur especially in the walled city. By the evening, we will take you for the excursion to Lion Fort (Nahargarh Fort) to have a perfect sunset view of Jaipur.
Day 14 – Jaipur
In the morning our guide will meet you at the hotel and start a full day sightseeing tour. Today visit the historical Amber Fort – you will ascend the heights of the fort through an elephant, the signature monument of Jaipur- Hawa Mahal (the wind palace); know the astrology at the observatory (Jantar Mantar), the royal City Palace & its museum. Also take the photograph of “The pride of Jaipur the Albert Hall”. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 15 – Jaipur-Fatehpur Sikri-Agra
In the morning, transfer to Agra en-route visiting the former capital of Mughal Emperor Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri also known as deserted capital. Arrive at Agra and check in to the hotel. In Agra, visit the monument of love Taj Mahal – one of the most photogenic and beautiful buildings in the entire world. Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan – a mighty Mughal Emperor in the memory of his beautiful wife and beloved Mumtaz Mahal. Later, take a tour of historical Agra Fort (An UNESCO World Heritage Site). Agra Fort was the place from where four Mughal Emperors ruled an enormous empire spread in entire Indian Sub-Continental.
Day 16 – Agra-Delhi-Departure
Today, transfer to Delhi international airport to embark the flight back to the home country. The tour ends.
